56 Things I've Learned in 56 Years
I'm breaking away from the usual and sharing a different post today. For those of you visiting for the 1st time, sorry no travel or fashion tips today. ( However, my outfits are shoppable at the end of the post)
I hope this post will inspire you to live your best life and own your age.
"It matters not how long we live....but how." Phillip James Bailey
1) God's mercies are fresh every morning.
2) At 40 years old, you finally realize your parents actually know something.
3) Do the things that scare you the most. They will be the most rewarding.
4) Family support is priceless
5) Somebody always has it worse.
6) When someone tells you can't, prove that you can.
7) Focus on possibilities instead of problems.
8) Life isn't fair.
9) The world doesn't owe you anything.
10) Expect nothing in return for the things you do for others.
11) Believe in miracles.
12) Always trust your instincts.
13) If you wait til you have enough time or money, you will never do anything.
14) It's OK to say NO.
15) Choose your friends wisely.
16) Be kind to your body and soul.
17) Learn to listen twice as much as you talk.
18) Learn something new every day.
19) Books are magic, read as much as you can.
20) Know your priorities and don't waver from them.
22) Life is too short to put up with people who don't bring joy.
23) Maintain great relationships with your aging parents. ( Unfortunately my dad passed when I was thirty-five. I'm thankful for my amazing mother, who will be 91 in June)
24) Learn when to disconnect.
25) The extra 5 or 10 pounds, nobody cares but you.
26) Bad things happen to good people and vice versa.
27) Start a book club, you may meet life-long friends.
28) Don't think twice about saying " Thank you" or " I love you."
29) Cats are some of the most loyal companions to have.
30) Overthinking is useless, it stresses you out.
32) Make sure your kids have fun memories of their childhood
33) Failure is a reflection of an event, not a person.
34) Being alone sometimes is awesome...and is not the same as being lonely.
35) Admit it when you are wrong, and say sorry often.
36) Ask for what you want. If you don't how will anyone know?
37) Take a risk and step out of your comfort zone.
38) You aren't wealthy until you have something money can't buy
39) When you choose to see the good in others, you end up finding the good in yourself.
40) Men can't be figured out, so don't even try.
41) Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.
42) Travel makes you realize no matter how much you know, there is always more to learn.
43) Travel leaves you speechless and turns you into storyteller.
44) To live....is to travel.
45) Sometimes it's the journey that teaches you a lot about your destination.
46) My mind says I'm in my 20's, my body says yeah right!
47) Don't let anyone dull your sparkle.
48) Don't tell your dreams to small minded people.
50) In the end we only regret the chances we didn't take.
AND, the last 6 are quotes I've learned to love and live by...
51) Life is short buy the shoes52) Nature gives you the face you have at twenty. Life shapes the face you have at thirty. But at fifty you get the face you deserve. ( Coco Chanel)
53) A girl should be two things: Classy and Fabulous ( Coco Chanel)
54) In order to irreplaceable, one must always be different. ( Coco Chanel)
55) Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman.
(Coco Chanel)
Lastly...
56) You are never too old to do something crazy stupid ha! Yup, a few years back I cut the cord to a coffee pot still plugged into the wall. Luckily that turned out ok, thanks to the big guy upstairs watching out for me.
I love when people make lists like this. I'm so not introspective that I'm terrible at, so I envy that. Thanks for linking up with us today. XO
